Toca dos Dados comes from a simple realization: SQL is structured English. The problem is almost never ability — it's translation.
In my experience, the hard part is almost never knowing what you want — that you've already got: the question you need to answer to make the call. What usually goes missing is the language to talk to the database. Reading a ready-made query can feel like another world, and writing one from scratch feels even further off — and it's completely normal to feel that way.
Toca's proposal is to translate SQL into business language. To show how each command maps to your real problem, how SQL works under the hood, and why understanding the concept behind what you manipulate changes everything. Making the technical simple without dumbing it down — so you don't just run the query, you know what it does.
My mission is to democratize the language of data: to help you understand how SQL works and how it applies to your business life.

I'm a data analyst, but I built my entire career inside business teams. That's where I developed my greatest strength: translating business needs into data — understanding the question behind each request and returning the information that supports the decision.
Over the years, I've trained and developed many interns and analysts. Watching capable professionals run into the same barrier — clear on what they need, yet unsure how to express it to the database — I concluded that the bottleneck is rarely intelligence: it's language.
Toca dos Dados exists to bring that translation to more people. It's a project with an educational purpose: to democratize the language of data so that any professional, in any field, can understand and use SQL with confidence in their day-to-day work.
